Big wins for 1sts & 2nds as Villagers shine at home and away

At a crucial stage of the season, the 1sts and 2nds secured two big and important victories.

1st XI beat Sandal by 7 wickets.

Having bowled out the visitors at Till Carr Lane for just 169 (Yusuf Malik 4-38, Ivan Stark 3-36), Lightcliffe reached the target in the 33rd with Lightcliffe junior turned senior Jordan Pickles top scoring unbeaten on 57 and Jordan Laban unbeaten on 48.

2nd XI beat Bradford & Bingley by 281 runs!

Another product of Lightcliffe's junior section, Isaac Morley (pictured above), secured another brilliant century making 116 from 113 while Rhys Jowett’s 68 and Regan Broadbent’s 64 also contributed to a sublime 342/7 in the 50 overs.

In reply, the home side were dismissed for just 61 in 15.5 overs. Redford Holdsworth with 4-17, Lucas Arnot 3-14 and James Horne 2-20.

3rd XI take 9 points from a losing draw against Birkby Rose Hill

At home, the 3rd XI couldn’t reach the 246 set for them to chase by Birkby Rose Hill - they were defeated by 82 runs but secured 9 points for bowling out the opposition and holding onto their final wicket.

10 points for the 4th XI as they fall just short at Crossflatts

Lightcliffe U15 Will Sweeten made an unbeaten 94 in a brilliant innings for the 4th XI at Crossflatts CC with 227 set by Lightcliffe. It took until the last over for the hosts to go past the target in an incredibly close game.
