Neil Wood is to take on the role of Head of Junior Cricket and will work with our brilliant team of junior coaches and managers to further develop what is already one of our proudest achievements – a thriving junior section for young people from U7 Minis through to U18s.
Gary Lewsley will support Neil in this role and also lead the development of Girls’ Cricket at the club, something we are excited about for the future.
Gary and Neil will also take on the on-field leadership of our Sunday teams which already give so many opportunities to our young cricketers to play in senior squads alongside experienced players who we are lucky help nurture them to be the stars of tomorrow.
Gary will be the 3rd XI captain who go into the 2026 season as Halifax Sunday League Division 1 champions. He takes over from Mark Horne who is stepping down after two successful years and who we send our huge thanks to for his incredible leadership.
Neil will be the 4th XI captain taking over from Bruce Lunn and will lead the team which will continue to give those invaluable opportunities to the club’s juniors.
? Bruce Lunn, Director of Cricket, said:
“I hope everyone at the club will join me in welcoming Neil and Gary to these new important roles on and off the field. Both are already familiar and significant members of our Lightcliffe family, understand the ethos behind our approach to cricket, and the importance of developing, nurturing and supporting young cricketers through our thriving Junior section. I look forward to working with them on the Cricket Committee as we begin the countdown to the 2026 season.”
