After 12 weeks of winter net trial sessions, the West Yorkshire Valhalla squads for the YCCC Regional Pathways programme were announced recently.
Due to the number of players, Yorkshire regional cricket is afforded full county cricket status by the ECB but regardless, the Lightcliffe lads will be aiming for selection for their full Yorkshire county squads when they are announced at the end of the phase one fixtures at the end of May.
At Under 15 level, Aquarod sponsored wicketkeeper batsman Monty R is selected for his fifth consecutive summer of West Yorkshire cricket. Monty's performances in the previous four seasons have earned him selection for the full Yorkshire County Age Group squad, a feat which he will hope to achieve again this summer.
Spin bowling all-rounder Sam W is in his 4th year of regional cricket. Sam will be hoping to find the form he displayed at Ampleforth College last August, where he was chosen as 'Player of the tournament' in the 2024 end of season Regional Festival.
Their first fixture on Sunday v the North at Harden CC, Bingley with an 11am start. This year regional cricket is played with a pink ball and in coloured kit and 50 overs per side at Under 15 level.
Alex G also plays regional cricket for the fourth consecutive year having gained full county selection in 2021. Alex is a fast-medium seam bowler and hard hitting batsman. Alex is joined by Lucas A in the first Under 14 fixture at the picturesque Monk Bretton CC against South Yorkshire. Lucas joins the regional squad for 3 fixtures but will also play County Performance Winter Squad Pre-Season fixtures.
At Under 13 level, Jacob C makes a welcome return to first phase cricket in the regional programme he has been a part of since the U9 age group. Jacob is a left arm seamer and left handed batsman and plays against North Yorkshire on Sunday at Calverley St Wilfred CC. The 40 over contest commences at 11am.
