Fantastic day as the local community visits the new clubhouse for the first time

A fabulous first event for the new clubhouse. There was a great sense of community and a real buzz about the place - John Brooke, LCC President

LIghtcliffe Cricket Club would like to thank all the volunteers who made the gala the wonderful event it is and all who came to enjoy the 2023 Village Gala and Family Fun Day.
Rescheduled from the regular slot of the first Sunday in July whilst the building of the new clubhouse progressed, Roger Davies entertained the crowds along with the ever popular village bingo. Other highlights were a visit from a West Yorkshire fire engine, appearances from Peppa Pig and Bob the Builder and a fly past from one of the two WW2 Lancaster Bombers still airborne.
There were also all the traditional favourites such as Hook a Duck, the Coconut Shy and tombolas plus all the sports based attractions whilst 3 giant inflatables kept the youngest visitors busy all afternoon.
Attendees were kept well fed by the delicious afternoon teas from the award winning tea-room and the BBQ with farm shop fayre with many also enjoying ice cream from Soft Joes!
The gala will probably return to its regular date next summer allowing Lightcliffe C of E school choir, the Jessica Francis School of Dance and the Clifton and Lightcliffe Band to attend.
Those at the gala were the first to learn of two forthcoming events - “Last Night of the Proms” with a firework finale on Saturday 23rd September and “An Evening with Roger Davies” on Saturday 11th November - ticket details for both events to follow soon.

As is tradition the prize draw concluded the event.

Prizes can be claimed on Saturday from 12 noon at the clubhouse.
