Just hours after getting off the plane from Pakistan, our overseas player for 2026 gave lots of positives on a disappointing day for Lightcliffe.
It was defeat for the 1st XI on the road - but a lot of positives to bring back from Undercliffe.
Fresh from his journey into Manchester Airport, our overseas player Hasan Raza made an immediate impact with the bat as he scored 52 from 50, including two boundaries in the first over.
Lightcliffe made 241/9 in their 50. In reply, fellow new Villager Osama took the first wicket and Hasan took 2-56 but it wasn’t enough as the hosts reached the winning line in the 49th over.
At home, the 2nd XI also fell to defeat - their first of the season.
A strong Jer Lane made 267 - Ivan Stark's 4-49 & Sam Walker's 4-90 the pick of the bowling attack.
In reply, Lightcliffe were always behind the chase and, despite stubborn resistance at the end, they were ultimately all out for 147 in 43 overs.
