Held at Loughborough University, Surrey CCC were the opposition for Yorkshire with both sides having a 100% record from the eight-fixture group stage plus quarter and semi-final stages of this year's competition.

Yorkshire won the toss and chose to bat. Yorkshire batted well so 16-year old Monty came to the crease with just 2 overs of the allocated 50 left. He drove one 4 in scoring 10 not out off 9 balls. This left Monty averaging an impressive 57 from his 8 innings in the competition.

Surrey started well chasing Yorkshire's total of 259 for 7. They had reached 70 without loss when Monty sharply stumped Surrey's leading run scorer Luke Attfield who had amassed 536 runs in this summer's tournament.

Surrey wickets then fell regularly, and they were bowled out for 178 leaving Yorkshire Under 16s victorious by 81 runs to be crowned One Day County Champions for 2026.

This concluded a good summer for Monty who also claimed 15 victims (12 caught and 3 stumped) in the 11 Cup fixtures whilst only conceding 7 byes. He also captained the county to victory in a T20 fixture v Nottinghamshire.

Along with his teammates, Monty now awaits news regarding selection for the winter training programme and next summer's U18 Academy squad which is expected before the end of September.
