Successful anniversary year celebrated at League's Annual Dinner

We were delighted to be able to attend the Gordon Rigg Bradford Premier Cricket League’s Annual Dinner on Friday.

On a brilliant evening at Headingley, it was a chance to celebrate a successful season for Lightcliffe and for clubs and players across the league.

Rajat Dey, our hugely popular overseas star, took the Division 2 Batting Award and the Jack Hill All Rounder Award for a stellar promotion-winning season.

The trophies were collected by Club Chairman Richard Leach and Committee Member Paul Ramsden who dazzled the guests with his own mustard corduroy suit which deserved an award in its own right (bravery, perhaps).

The 2nd XI’s title winning season was also celebrated with captain Rob Burton collecting the Division 1 League Trophy and Certificate from League Chairman David Young.

Lightcliffe’s successes didn’t end there as the aforementioned mustard-clad Rambo took home the raffle’s top prize of a state-of-the-art coffee machine, useful for giving caffeine to those on the receiving end of his stories well into the new season.

It was a fabulous night, thank you to all the League team led by Chief Executive Alan Birkinshaw who won the night’s top award, the Sir Leonard Hutton Trophy, for his 40 years of outstanding service.
