Overseas player Suleman Khan made a superb 124 not out as Lightcliffe chased down a challenging St Lawrence score of 251-6 to record their second win of the season.
Pudsey won the toss and no hesitation in opting to bat on glorious Saturday afternoon. Ollie Robinson struck early for Lightcliffe when he Waite (9) trapped in front. He then appeared to remove Callum Goldthorpe first ball when he found the edge however the umpire’s finger never rose.
Goldthorpe (6) was removed when keeper Mark Horne held onto a catch from the bowling of Suleman Khan. This brought Pudsey’s captain James Smith to the crease and he and opener Mark Robertshaw put on 140 for the third wicket. Smith (71) and Robertshaw (122) were both removed by Khan. Marsden (11) was run out by Jocky Wilson and Chris Greenwood bagged the last wicket. Pudsey set Lightcliffe a total of 252 for victory.
Lightcliffe’s reply did not start too well with Alex Stead (1) and Josh Wheatley (7) removed by Richie Lamb. Ollie Robinson (28) looked in good nick before he missed straight one from Steve Watts, to leave Lightcliffe 63 – 3. This brought Suleman Khan to the crease, he and Wilson steady the ship before Khan started the onslaught. Wilson (47) was stumped with 55 still required for victory. Rhys Jowett (18 not out) and Khan (124 not out) saw the team to victory with 11 balls to spare.
Next weekend Lightcliffe entertain Bradford & Bingley on Saturday and then travel to Hanging Heaton on Bank Holiday Monday.
