Triple win + double 5-for = one positive weekend

There were victories for the 1sts, 2nds and 3rds with some standout individual performances amid the team successes.

The 1st XI secured an impressive win against the side who were that morning the second in Division 1. At Bankfoot, they were chasing 217 after some tight bowling not least from Finlay Hill, pictured above, who got his first 1st XI 5-for. In reply, Lightcliffe reached the total in the 42nd over with 79 from Jordan Laban & 46 from Niall Lockley key to getting a crucial 19 points. Lightcliffe are now 8th in the league.

The 2nd XI continued their impressive run of form with a win at home against Pudsey St Lawrence. Another brilliant five wickets for Sam Walker (5-21) helped dismiss the visitors for just 129 in the 29th over. The Villagers reached the total in the 41st with an important unbeaten 26 for captain Rob Burton seeing them over the line and securing 18 points. Watch Sam’s brilliant 5-for here >>

On Sunday, the 3rd XI have not been beaten all season – and that stand-out form continued with an emphatic win over Triangle at home. They secured 20 points with a 201 run victory over Triangle with Kiefer Hanman making 92 in Lightcliffe’s 286. In reply, the visitors were always a long way behind the chase, ultimately dismissed for 85 with Lucas Arnot taking 4-11.

The one senior defeat this weekend was the 4th XI who were at Armitage Bridge and were bowled out for 106. In reply, the hosts reached the target in the 19th over.

There was junior action in the morning too with a brilliant display from 32 young cricketers as Lightcliffe’s U9s beat Blackley’s U9 in the league – one of two games held at their home to give as many opportunities to as many players as possible. Read our report on the morning’s action >>
