Our young villagers will travel to South Yorkshire for the Yorkshire Final of the ECB Vitality U15 Club T20 Cup.
With the national final of the competition held at Lords in September, entrants always include the strongest junior sides nationwide thus offering the opportunity to play against quality opposition at new venues. Town Fields, the home of Doncaster Town CC, is located between the town centre and Doncaster Racecourse, home to the renowned St Leger Stakes race in September.
The team shows one change from the comprehensive 8 wicket semi-final win over previous nemesis New Rover. Off spinning all rounder Ayaan Akram missed the semi attending a wedding and replaces U13 all rounder Jacob Carroll who is n/a due to West Yorkshire’s regional fixture v Cumbria at Bridgeholme CC.
Whilst this will be the first visit to Doncaster Town CC for most of the Lightcliffe contingent heading south, it will be the 2nd visit this week for Lucas Arnot!!
Lucas played at Town Fields in two T20 fixtures on Tuesday for Yorkshire Under 14s v their Warwickshire counterparts - the 1030 contest was abandoned due to heavy rain whilst the 1400hrs fixture resulted in a 49 run win for Yorkshire.
Lucas’ Mum Lisa had these thoughts about “Mum’s taxis” trip south:
“Massive ground
Lovely people, very welcoming
Good wicket
Lots of parking
Good bar area
Lots of seating around the ground
A1 busy, roadworks
Took about 1hr 15 travelling there and back”
We're hoping the match will be streamed online - keep an eye on Doncaster's YouTube here >>
Team news will follow later this week.
