Admist the wonderful 150th anniversary celebrations of Lashings World XI & the Gala, there was an achievement in our U15 match against Adwalton, which deserves mention because of one outstanding performance which will live long in the memory of the young player, his family, his team and our club.

In the Bradford league match at Till Carr Lane, Lightcliffe started well with the bat, as always giving all the boys a chance to bat at the top of the order. Luke Barrowcliffe opened the batting & top scored with 30 from 24 balls, putting on 42 for the opening stand with Seth Thompson.

Jacob Wood came in at 3 and hit 3 boundaries in his 25. There were also excellent contributions from Jack Anderson & Owen Horne, both scoring 24 from just 13 balls. The Lightcliffe innings finished on a daunting & impressive 155 for 7.

Just two Adwalton players made it to double figures in the reply of 74 for 9 with Luke taking 2 for 21 and Jack & Lucas taking a wicket each.

But it was Lightcliffe's seventh bowler of the Adwalton innings who took the limelight by securing figures he's unlikely to beat no matter how long he plays the game, and most of us can only dream of.

Seth Thompson took a remarkable 5 wickets for 5 runs thanks to a catch each from Owen Horne & Monty Ramsden, a caught & bowled & 2 clean bowled.

Seth was encouraged by all his team mates to take a fourth over in an attempt to get his ‘five for’ - which he duly did with his penultimate ball of the night.

It's an evening he’ll likely never forget, nor will those watching as he achieved figures which the former international players from Lashings World XI, who followed him onto the hallowed LCC turf just a few days later, could only dream of achieving!
