Wow! Where to start.....The dark brooding clouds looked ominous as the U13s took to the field hoping to consolidate their position at the top of the Heavy Woollen U13 league. Cutting to the chase, Lightcliffe needed a positive result with Moorlands hot on our tails.

LCC won the toss and elected to bat, so far so good (nothing to see here)...... Then came the drizzle. As George and Harrison began to twist and shout in the middle, a reasonable pace was set. It soon became clear that the game was in doubt and we were all left shouting Help!.

The decision was taken to reduce the LCC innings to 10 overs to try and force a result. Alex gave them the proverbial kick up the rear and the runs began to flow. Harrison retired after George had taken the Long and WInding Road back to pavilion, they had set a decent platform.

Cameos from George T and Milo meant LCC reached 91 from their allotted overs and it seemed simple - contain Hanging Heaton to 90 in 10 overs.

The brooding clouds seemed to catapult all at Till Carr Lane into a parallel universe where nothing was what it seemed. Hanging Heaton needed to have the chance to bat 16 overs for the game to be valid and what looked insurmountable for the visitors, was well in their grasp.

The LCC lads were a credit though, they carried themselves with calmness and got the job done, bowling HH out for 77. A doff of the cap for Abbas, George T, George D and Milo for some assured bowling. Harry B was also tidy behind the stumps.

Phew, job done and the points secured.
