To the rapture of the crowd watching on at Till Carr Lane, the 16-year old was opening alongside Sam Stobart and the pair of them enjoyed a 78 partnership before Sam retired not out from 41 balls.
Zach and Oliver Barrowcliffe then added a further 60 between them as the score creeped up. After four 4s in the 16th over, Zach’s score reached 44 and then, with the penultimate delivery of the 19th over, he clipped it fabulously off his legs to get to the retired not out target of 50 from 53 balls.
It set the scene for a brilliant win as Stones were then held to 72/9 from their 20 overs with 2 wickets each for Hardeep Singh and Ayaan Akram and a brilliant 4 wickets for just 5 runs for 2nd XI regular Sam Walker.
Victory by 80 runs but it was the attack from Zach that will live long in the memory!
